Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

DEFWDV004 - Dive using surface-supplied breathing apparatus in open water to 30 metres

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Operate a surface-supply panel

  1. Inspect surface-supply panel and associated equipment for serviceability and check all gauges to ensure they are in date
  2. Connect main and reserve air supplies and confirm supply
  3. Check seals and connections for integrity, correct function and correct line up
  4. Ensure each umbilical from the surface-supply panel is supplying a specific diver
  5. Perform operator level maintenance on surface-supply panel at the work site
  6. De-service surface-supply panel after use
